The Coast to Coast Killer

Tommy Lynn Sells claimed to kill 70peopleamong various other crimes stretching from one end of the country to the other, which is why he was referred to as 'The Coast To Coast Killer'.

He described the feeling of taking someone's life as a drug.

He felt the compulsion to do it over and over again.

He claimed 70 but was only convinced of one.

According to authorities, his kill number is around 32.

Beginning:

Born in 1964, Tommy's childhood was filled with sexual assault by his neighbor after being abandoned by his mother

At 14, he ran away. Two years later, while attempting to break into a house. He saw a man performing oral sex on a boy. He had decided right then and there that he would kill the man. According to him, he saw all of it in slow motion.

Later, he wouldn't be specific of who he killed and why. Man, woman or child, he killed them all because according to him blood is blood. He said that every time he killed he felt like he was killing the neighbor who molested him all those years ago.

The coast to coast killer killed over a 20 year period in more than 15 states. He would be in and out of prison due to car theft, cocaine possession, robbery but not murder. When he was released from jail, he travelled to Illinois. While at a gas station there, on october13th 1997, July Ray Harper cut in front of him in line and made him angry.

He followed her home, where she and her 10 year old son were asleep. He snuck in and used a knife to repeatedly stabbed her son to death. When July woke up, he pushed her away and ran from there.

Since there were no fingerprints found, July was tried and convicted of the murder of her son , Joel. She stayed in prison until 2006 when Tommy confessed. Her trial was held again and this time she was found innocent.

The final murder by Tommy before he was arrested was on December 31st 1999. After befriending the Harris family, he snuck into their house and cut the throat of 13 year old Katie Harris. He was leaving the room when he realized that there was someone else there as well. It was Katie's friend, 10 year old Crystal. He cut her throat but not only did she survive, she also helped the police in catching Tommy by giving them a full accurate description.

Arrest:

He was arrested, tried, convicted and put on death row. On April 3rd 2014, a lethal dose of Pentobarbital was administered and less than a minute later he was pronounced dead with Crystal and the Harris family watching.

The Coast to Coast Killer was one of the most dangerous serial killers.
